Started with a van.
Grew into a craft.
Hawaii Surf Campers started in 2016 with a simple idea — give travelers a fun, authentic way to explore Oahu in a campervan. What began as a small rental fleet quickly grew into something bigger.
As demand grew, so did the need to build and maintain our own vans. We started doing in-house conversions to grow the fleet, and soon people were asking us to build theirs too. One project led to another, and the build side of the business took over.
Today, we've closed the rental chapter and gone all-in on what we love most — building, converting, and upgrading vans with intention. Every project that comes through our shop in Wahiawa gets our full attention from the first sketch to the final detail.

2016
The beginning — Van rentals on the North Shore
Hawaii Surf Campers launches as a campervan rental company on the North Shore of Oahu. A small fleet, a big dream, and a lot of aloha.
2018 – 2020
Building our own fleet
To grow the rental business, we started converting our own vans in-house. This is where the craft started — designing layouts, wiring systems, building furniture from scratch.
2021 – 2023
Conversions for clients
Word spread. Clients started bringing their own vans for conversion, modification, and upgrades. The build side of the business grew faster than we expected.
2024 – Present
Full focus on builds & conversions
We closed the rental chapter and went all-in on what we do best. Today, Hawaii Surf Campers is a dedicated van build and conversion shop — personal builds, commercial builds, and upgrades of all kinds.
